Findings

This is a CT scan taken with IV contrast during the arterial phase. This patient has a tumor of one of the abdominal organs. Look carefully at the CT scan and use the topogram to determine the level of the slice.

  1. Can you determine which organ has a tumor in it?

    Left kidney

Incorrect. Both kidneys look normal in this CT scan.
    Spleen

Incorrect. The spleen looks normal in this CT scan.
    Stomach

Incorrect. The stomach appears normal in this CT scan.
    Pancreas

Correct. The pancreas is one of the more difficult abdominal organs to assess with a CT scan because it crosses into multiple abdominal quadrants and is visible at multiple slice levels. There is a hypodense mass measuring approximately 3cm x 3cm in the head of the pancreas. Good job!
