Findings

This is a PA chest x-ray viewed in the normal orientation. Ignore the EKG leads that are on the patient. There are two main findings here. One is a dilated esophagus. The other is a congenital abnormality.

  1. Can you identify this patient's congenital abnormality?

    Tetraology of fallot

Incorrect. This is a good guess since you are thinking about the correct organ system. Try again.
    Cardiomegaly

Incorrect. The heart is of normal size in this patient. Cardiomegaly is rarely a congenital finding. Try again.
    Dextrocardia

Correct! This patient has his heart on the right side of his body. This is a congenital abnormality.
    Congenital absence of the scapulae

Incorrect. The scapulae are both visible on this chest x-ray. Try again.
