Findings

This is a lung CT of a patient with a lung tumor. Look carefully at the CT and use the topogram to determine the level of the slice.

  1. Can you identify which lung lobe the tumor is in?

    Left upper lobe

Incorrect. Use the topogram to determine the level of the CT slice. At this level which lobe would be most posterior? Try again.
    Left lower lobe

Correct. This is a large tumor in the left lower lobe that abuts the pleura. Good job.
    Left middle lobe

Incorrect. Make sure you know your lung anatomy. There are only two lobes in the left lung. Try again.
    Right upper lobe

Incorrect. Remember the orientation of a CT image. What is on the right side of the image is on the left side of the patient, and what is on the left side of the image is on the right side of the patient. Try again.
    Right lower lobe

Incorrect. Remember the orientation of a CT image. What is on the right side of the image is on the left side of the patient, and what is on the left side of the image is on the right side of the patient. Try again.
    Right middle lobe

Incorrect. Remember the orientation of a CT image. What is on the right side of the image is on the left side of the patient, and what is on the left side of the image is on the right side of the patient. Try again.
