Findings

There is a markedly abnormal vascular structure visible on this CT.

  1. Can you make a diagnosis?

    Abdominal aortic anuerysm

    Correct. The diameter of the aorta is markedly enlarged measuring 5cm x 5cm at this level. Aneurysms with a diameter of 5.0-5.9 cm have annual risk of rupture of 5-15%.
    Splenic vein thrombosis

    Incorrect. Try again. Hint: the vessel we are interested in is an artery.
    Renal artery stenosis

    Incorrect. The renal artery is not visible at this level. Try again.
    Portal hypertension

    Incorrect. There is no evidence of portal hypertension on this CT scan.
